The Best Elephant Sanctuary In phuket

Are you looking for the most ethical or the best Elephant sanctuary in phuket Thailand ?

I must admit, one of the first things i wanted to do when i decided to revisit thailand and to a region i hadn't  been back to in over 16 years, was go to an elephant Sanctuary that cared for elephants the way they should be.

Seeing them mistreated in circuses and in places where they are trained to do tricks really concerned me. I wanted to know what it was really like to be part of an ethical elephant sanctuary.

We found the most ethical sanctuary that we think is the best one to visit. If you want to swim or bathe with the elephants then this isn't the one for you. Swimming and bathing with elephants is now considered unethical so we only chose the one that we tried and tested that we know is  100% ethical

What To Know before Visiting an Elephant Sanctuary

                     What Isn't Allowed

What Is Allowed

  •      Swimming with the elephants
  •      Washing the elephants
  •       Riding the elephants
  •      Viewing them close up
  •      Feeding them
  •      Taking pictures of them

What Can You Do at the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary

Taking the option to get picked up you are driven to the sanctuary in a minivan.
You are then introduced to your carere for the day and payment is taken. You are then taken to a tree tops lounge area to be introduced to staff and carers and shown a video highlighting the abuse that has taken place over the years.

Be aware that some of the images in the video can be upsetting some hard core nature fans but it does explain how mistreated they can be.

TIP: When booking get the transport option included

Next you will be given some food to feed the elephants in their natural habitat and you can get staff to take your picture with your own camera if you wish.

After this you are taken around the elephant park to view the elephants up close and explore one of Thailand's largest canopies which is still being added to. You will learn the history of each elephant and watch it in its own natural surroundings.

This is truly a great ethical elephant experience. You are then given a fantastic buffet lunch suitable for most diet requirements and you can relax and ask questions. Then you are driven home.
