Bang Tao Beach sits on the northwest coast of Phuket, about 20 kilometres south of the airport , far enough from Patong to feel like a different island, close enough to get there when you want a big night out.

Mid-range options exist but you'll need to look a little inland. True beachfront at Bang Tao doesn't come at mid-range prices. Pai Tan Villas are only 150 metres from the beach and are ideal.

If you're coming between November and February, book ahead. The decent rooms fill up and last-minute options get limited.

Suay Cherngtalay serves modern Thai food with a twist, tucked away near Boat Avenue. Definitely one to try.
The Farmer and The Fisherman is a modern and lovely venue in the Porto de Phuket shopping village offering fresh seafood and farm delivered to the table cuisine. Its a delight to dine here and should not be missed
Kin-Kub-Ei Restaurant is a hidden beauty of southern Thai food delights and has a lovely garden restaurant inspired by its Michelin-recognized food.
Five Olives is situated on Boat Avenue... great Italian pastas Not to be forgotten.

Beach clubs are very popular due to the higher class of people that frequent Bang Tao Beach. That doesn't mean it's not for everyone however the average person doesn't really want to pay to then pay to drink and eat. 

The difference is that in a beach bar you get to relax in cabanas, loungers and just enjoy the more serene parts of a beach club rather than on the sand itself.
You can buy drinks all day long and eat when you like and watch the sunset.
Beach clubs usually have music or DJs spinning tracks... entertained. It's a real party its a real party atmosphere that is becoming more and more popular.
Unfortunately most have a pretty expensive access fee plus food and drinks.

Day Pass - The day pass allows you to access the lounge chairs, with towels, umbrellas, and access to changing rooms. The pass isn't cheap, but it usually includes 50% of the cost in food credit.
Lunch/Dinner/Buffets - Any of these options are going to cost you you way more than eating at street vendors or the local restaurant. These beach clubs are usually exclusive and priced the same way. The average cost of a lunch is around 2,200 Baht and cocktail tables can be  7,500 Baht for up to  4 people with a bottle included usually vodka or wine.  Dinner options are usually a minimum spend per person of around 2  - 2,200 Baht

When Is the Best Time to Visit Bang Tao Beach?

 The best months to visit are November through February when the weather is simply perfect. You’ll find warm, sunny days with a slight breeze, making it great for lounging and swimming.
Between May and October the weather can be unpredictable as the monsoon rains move in. That doesnt mean its horrible however you can expect more unsettled rains and heavier than usual more often. There are still many sunny days within this timeframe

Bang Tao Beach vs Nearby Beaches

Kata Beach - Not as long or as nice but certainly is full of shops and places to eat and drink
Patong Beach - Phuket's centre for nightlife and beach activities. It's not far to grab a taxi and come to patong beach for a day or evening.
Kamala Beach - far more relaxed and slow paced. Families turn up even in the rainy season. Walk the boardwalk and eat on the quiet, slow-paced village street.

Is Bang Tao Beach a party beach?

Not really — that's Patong. Bang Tao has beach clubs (Catch, Xana, Carpe Diem) with DJs and cocktails, so there's a scene, but it's a lounge-and-sunset crowd rather than a bar-crawl one. If you want an actual party beach, Patong's 30 minutes south.

Is Bang Tao Beach better than Patong Beach?

Depends what you want. Bang Tao wins on the beach itself — wider, calmer, backed by resorts instead of bars. Patong wins on nightlife and energy. For a relaxed stay with good food and beach clubs rather than street noise, Bang Tao's the better base.

Is Bang Tao Beach swimmable?

Yes, most of the year — calm water and a sandy sea floor, best November to April. Conditions get rougher in the May-October monsoon season when currents pick up; stick to lifeguarded sections and skip it if a red flag's up.
